3 Small Words

  0

My Bible study group is currently studying Genesis. You know… ”in the beginning…” I was reading Chapter 5 today and three little words stuck out at me. Chapter 5 is the genealogy from Adam to Noah. This is what I read…

…Adam lived eight hundred years after he begot Seth…
…Seth lived eight hundred and seven years after he begot Enosh…
…Enosh lived eight hundred and fifteen years after he begot Kenan…
…Kenan lived eight hundred and forty years after he begot Mahalalel…
…Mahalalel lived eight hundred and thirty years after he begot Jared…
…Jared lived eight hundred years after he begot Enoch…

…Enoch WALKED WITH GOD after he begot Methuselah… (and it continues to Noah)

I started thinking. Do I want people to say that I ”lived” for xx number of years or do I want people to say that I ”WALKED WITH GOD” for xx number of years. I think I’d rather take the latter.

What does that mean? I started thinking about all of the walks that I used to take with my friend, Patricia, when she was stationed here.

… We walked next to one another…
… We conversed…
… We smiled and laughed…
… We helped solve problems…
… We had relationship…
… We communicated…
… We spent time with one another…
… We MADE time for one another…

That’s what I want to do daily with God. I want my children to see it. I want the world to see it. I want them to know that I love God and I am WALKING WITH GOD… not just living.
