Can you hear it?: Part 7 of 7

  1

Holding on… but all good things must come to an end…

I had these sort of spiritual happenings, where I truly believe God is trying to talk to me. With that comes great responsibility and sometimes great burdens.

I have to discern where these things are coming from… Is it the Lord or is it the “enemy?”

Where can I find the answers to what I should do?

Do I go strictly off faith and listen to my heart?

Why me, why am I being instructed to do anything?

I am the same as everyone else. We all have the gift of the Spirit. We all have the same Father.

I turn to the word…

Within a couple weeks of the whispers, I get another “message” in my head. This was just a thought, similar to the “Breath awakening.” This was “Get away… in the Word.” I was at the office at about 4p on a Thursday afternoon. I walked straight to my incredibly understanding boss and told him what I felt and told him I needed to take Friday off. Again… incredibly understanding. He said, “How can I say no to that?”

That Thursday night I went home, fed the boys, put them to bed, got out my computer, lit some candles, opened Youversion (the online Bible), and began to read and take notes. I know there is a responsibility to read through and not jump around, but this night I jumped around, not looking for answers, I just wanted some reference to look back on the next day. I wrote down five things that jumped out to me and went to bed.

Friday morning, get the boys off, make my coffee, totally prepared for my day in the Word, then I open my journal…

I read what was written the night before…

Romans 8:6

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

Ephesians 5:14

Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.

1 Peter 1:14-16

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

1 Peter 1:22-23

Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

and the final piece…

1 Timothy 4:8-16

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.

Command and teach these things. Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

When I read 1 Timothy, I knew what I needed to do. It was not until I received this confirmation that I knew I needed to “be” where He wants me to “be.” As simple as that… I wear no burden, just “be” where He wants me to “be.”

That following Monday, driving to work, I began to break down… I knew what I was about to do…

A year ago I had my dream job, was living my dream life, with my dream wife, my dream children… but that was just it…

I was dreaming.

It was time to wake up.

I walked into the office, told my boss I needed to talk and we did.

I left my dream job.

You have to understand, I did not ask for any of this… I am just following my heart. This is not about Lindsay’s death, these things were happening before she went to be with our Lord. I can’t ignore this…

I have a calling, but can I hear it?

The calling is not for me, but for you.

I have done very little… I have just been where I need to be… that is it.

This is about you. This is about Him.

I was perfectly fine with just writing on the blog and sharing every detail of my life… but the wind blew and I threw my arms up and let it carry me.

Resources beyond anything you could ever imagine have been placed in front of me to make sure this happens.

Tomorrow, May 27th, what would be Lindsay’s 29th birthday, will be the birth of your Part of the Miracle.

We have redesigned the website, reconfigured it, added features, and it will be yours.

I have been struggling with how to put the concept into simple terms, but as of last Tuesday, as I was walking into my Tuesday Bible study, I said a prayer for God to put it on my heart, I need an answer and He did…

In December, before I left my dream job, my Bible study group decided to move into Romans. I immediately had an overwhelming feeling that it would be a “winding down period.” I did not understand it, but that is what I felt. This last Tuesday, the Tuesday before launching the new Part of the Miracle, we finished Romans…

Here is my answer…

Romans 15:5-6

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

That is Part of the Miracle!

Tomorrow, you will see something new when you go to www.PartoftheMiracle.com. I ask you for a few things…

1) Share… these are not our lives, they are His, so share what He is doing with His lives.

2) Encourage… As brothers and sisters, we are to encourage one another. You have done this with me and I am forever grateful.

3) Glorify… With one mind and one voice, glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The website is only the beginning of Part of the Miracle… I have started a non-profit and there is a plan to reach many and to keep people in the Word. I will disclose full details on the site.

As a non-profit, the organization will run 100% on donations. I am not opening donations up until June 15th… I want you all to see the vision and to believe before you give. The future of Part of the Miracle is much bigger than what it is today, so please help us reach that future. I have no doubt the Lord will provide.

I thank you all for everything you have done for me before and since September 23rd, 2011. I am forever humbled for your encouragement, your love, and for allowing me to see the hearts of so many God loving people.

It is a hard day, but a sweet one for me to say goodbye to this thing. I have bled and dropped a lot of tears on this keyboard.

Finally, I ask you this for the first time…

Please spread Part of the Miracle.

In love.
