Standing Still

Do you ever feel like you are standing still? Time seems to be standing still? Like you are about to fall apart and break? You have your automatic responses… ”We are doing well”, ”we are busy”, ”life is so good”. It’s mostly true, but sometimes you don’t feel it and you say those things to convince yourself that everything is going well. That’s how I feel right now.

I’ve been away for 2 weeks visiting my parents. It was a wonderful trip, but now as I sit going through the mail (Christmas cards mostly), I feel like others are doing so much and I’m just standing still… I’m just waiting. I’m waiting for 645 to start bath time, I’m waiting for 745 to have the kids in bed, I’m waiting for June when my husband should be back from his deployment to Afghanistan.

It’s these times that I need to remember scripture to help me get going. In these little moments of waiting is when Joanna will start to crawl, Timothy will say a new word or phrase, we will get a call from Kyle. These are the moments that make up my life. These are moments that God can teach me if I’ll just focus on Him and all the blessings that He has given to me.

”Be still and know that I am God”

”She is clothed in strength and dignity. She can laugh at the days to come”

”And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.”

Instead of feeling like I’m waiting for life to happen, I need to seek God in the small moments and wait for Him to show me His ways… All with a smile and a content heart.
