Start Painting- part 2

Jim Carrey is one of my favorite actors. Maybe because my brother, Justin, can do a very impressive “Mask” routine! Well, there is a sequel to his movie Bruce Almighty, Evan Almighty… a must see if you are a movie lover. It has a modern day spin on the story about Noah and the ark. I feel like this is a story our little ones hear over and over in church for a reason. Bottom line, God comes to Noah and says “build an ark. I have big plans. Get all the animals together.” Then Christ floods the earth and wipes out all mankind and any animals that didn’t make it on this big boat! Crazy right?

God comes to us in a warning too. It’s not all going to be wonderful! He promises us hard times. He promises a “flood” and not just one. He is telling you to build your ark! Like in the movie and in life… You don’t believe it will happen to you. You aren’t asking ME to do this. You don’t mean ME. So you repress it.

Everyone has struggles of some kind. I had a patient tell me, “there are worst things than death,” after telling her about my loss. Having this giant mushroom cloud above my head that’s a hard one to hear and accept. Well, about two patients after her, I had a patient tell me she has been married for twelve years and for the past ten he was cheating on her with many different women. Well, that’s worse! (In my opinion.) Scott left me perfect and in the perfect marriage. So He is telling you, He is going to flood your world. Build your ark. Store-up your treasures in heaven. Disaster will hit. Are you going to be strong enough to withstand your storm? Are you going to turn to Him or from Him? He says, “I give you these trial and tribulations so you can hit rock bottom and have only one place to turn, to me! Which is exactly where I want you, with me!”

After the, what seems like relentless beating, a rainbow bursts out- God’s promise to us. “Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my promise between me and you and all living creatures of any kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.” Our promise is eternal life. There is a pot of gold waiting for you! Will you choose to accept it?

The naked human eye can see about 100 colors in the rainbow. Much more then the Roy G. Biv we have all learned about… red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. When actually there are millions of colors in a rainbow. We can’t see all those colors. Can you imagine what Christ can see? Can you imagine the color He sees going on in your life? He made the rainbow. He made you. Think of it like tapestry. The tapestry is between you and Christ. He is looking down and sees the most beautiful picture. That is your life He has designed. You on the other hand are seeing this tapestry from the bottom or the underneath side. You see all the extra string. The knots. The wads of string matted together. The loose ends. The binding. The seams. Pretty ugly from underneath there. But just where you see the ugliest part of your life, may be the most beautiful collision of colors from the top looking down. The most beautiful part.

It takes rain to make a rainbow.

In His grip,

Lindsey
